Arihant class submarine is an indigenously developed nuclear powered submarine with the capability to launch nuclear attack with ballistic missiles. In 2021 it was launched to the sea for further trials. It’s a 111 m long and 15 m wide submarine with capacity to host 95 personnel. On the surface of the sea it can achieve a maximum speed of 12–15 knots (22–28 km/h) and 24 knots (44 km/h) when submerged. India is the only country outside P-5, who have developed such submarine.
